Trinity College, Cambridge (1912 - 1914 and 1919 - 1920): Studied
history and law and graduated in 1919. Pre 1914 - 1918 Great War
awarded blues in cricket and soccer (captaining both teams). Awarded
golf blue in 1919 when a mature student also captained the team.
1914 - 1918 Great War:
Joined the Royal Flying Corps and won the DFC and Bar and Italian
silver and bronze medals for valour flying stringbag bombers in
Italy. Then joined the newly formed Royal Naval Air Service, promoted
to Major. Reported to have been one of the first pilots to land
a plane on an aircraft carrier.

1914 won the University Scratch Gold Medal with a round of 73
1914 scored 233 not out for Cambridge University v MCC
1920's played as an amateur for Sunderland football club
1920 amateur cap for England v Wales at Soccer
1920's played cricket as an amateur for Somerset and Northumberland
1921 playing for Gentlemen v Players scored 29 + 39 runs
1924 captained the Corinthians when they beat Blackburn football
club in F.A. Cup 1st round proper 1 - 0. The only amateur side to
do so
1928 won the Worplesdon Foursomes partnering Joyce Wethered
1929 won the Belgian Open Amateur Championship over 36 holes (NB
in round one scored 50 - 29 = 79)
1930 selected to play for England v Ireland
1935 & 1936 won the Sunningdale Foursomes partnering Joyce Wethered
During the 1930's playing with Henry Longhurst for Charterhouse
in the Halford Hewitt winning 31 out of their 32 matches
Committee member - Sunningdale Golf Club, Captain in 1933 and Captain
of Royal Worlington in 1936
Morrison was blessed with a large frame and iron construction,
Longhurst described him as massive, fit and fearless. He once won
a beer drinking contest at the Munich Beer Fest and celebrated by
ordering a pint of sherry, his favourite tipple.
After leaving Cambridge he became a golf architect and wrote golf
articles on a regular basis. As a member of Sunningdale he became
involved with Harry Shapland Colt in 1922, when Colt was designing
and constructing the new course.
He joined the partnership in 1923 and in 1928 was appointed a Director
of the newly formed company founded by Colt - Colt, Alison and Morrison
Limited. He was allocated 100 of the 1,000 issued shares.
During his career, which spanned some 38 years, he designed or
remodelled numerous courses in the United Kingdom and Europe, as
well as assisting Colt. A selection of these courses is given below:

Chantaco St Jean de Luz and St Coud (yellow course) in France. Hamburg
Falkenstein, Frankfurter, Hamburger Land & G.C. in Germany.
Stockholm in Sweden and La Betulle GC (at Biella) & La Mandria
GC (at Torino) in Italy.
In the United Kingdom:
Wentworth (Colt input), Prestbury (mainly Morrison), Mayland (Essex),
St Mellon (South Wales), Truro and Princes 27 holes (50% Sir Guy
Campbell).
1939 - 1945 War:
RAF - initially Wing Commander then Group Captain as Officer in
charge of a training wing.
In 1945 Colt retires, in 1947 Alison leaves for South Africa, leaving
Morrison to run the British end. In 1952 he becomes the Managing
Director after Colt died in 1951 and Alison in 1952. He continues
until 1961 when he dies bringing to an end the firm and an era.
